Areas of Practice

I have worked in personal injury law on both sides of the border for over 10 years.

I have acted for injured workers and victims of motor vehicle accidents in both New South Wales and Victoria and I continue to practice law on both sides of the Murray.

I also practice in public liability law and I have handled many civil claims against Supermarkets and Owners or Occupiers of premises.

I have recovered damages against Host Employers where an injured worker was employed through a Labour Hire company. These claims can often be complicated by the overlap between workers compensation law and public liability law, as well as the complication of cross-border jurisdictional issues. You have to know what you are doing when you live on the border.

I have also acted for clients in medical negligence claims, including victims of bungled breast augmentation procedures, ureter suture imbrication complications after hysterectomy and victims of dental negligence.

International Experience, Locally

I practised with an international law firm in Sydney before returning to Albury Wodonga with my wife to escape the Sydney squeeze.

I bring serious ‘big city’ experience to the local Albury Wodonga area so that you don’t have to leave town to receive expert legal advice in relation to your personal injury claim.

I take great pride in fighting difficult cases and I accept instructions in any personal injury claim including workers compensation, public liability, medical negligence and motor vehicle accident claims.

I can maximise the compensation you receive from an insurance company, and, for any residents of the Albury Wodonga region, you get to meet with me face to face instead of just talking over the telephone.

Workers Compensation Independent Review Office Accredited

I was one of the first 150 solicitors in New South Wales to become an endorsed Accredited Legal Services Provider (ALSP) with the Workers Compensation Independent Review Office (WIRO).

This means that if you’re injured at work in the State of New South Wales, or your employment is connected to the State of New South Wales, I can provide you with expert legal advice at no cost to you.

If you have been injured at work in NSW, contact me to see if you qualify for the free legal assistance scheme through WIRO. If you do qualify, I will act for you in your workers compensation claim at no cost to you.

Making a Real Difference for Injured People

I received instructions from a client in relation to workers compensation claim that was about 12 years past the limitation date.

My client had a serious lower back injury and his condition had deteriorated to the point where he required surgery and was not able to return to work as a Truck Driver.

After surgery, we commenced proceedings in the District Court of New South Wales and sought leave for our client to bring a claim outside the time limits imposed by the legislation.

I was successful in winning my client’s application even through the insurance company fought us all the way.

I ended up recovering in excess of $800,000.00 for my client.

I was the instructing Solicitor in Turnbull v Strange [2018] NSWCA 157. We were in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and we successfully defended an application by a Defendant to suppress important information obtained by us under subpoena.

The judgment delivered in this matter provided clarity on the issue of how law enforcement agencies balance their obligation to protect personal information with their obligation to disclose relevant information under subpoena.

What do you enjoy about Albury Wodonga?

I moved back to Albury Wodonga after commencing my career here in 2008. Albury Wodonga has an amazing vibe and it has a more sophisticated culture than most regional centres. I really wanted to raise my children here.

Albury Wodonga can easily compete with Sydney and Melbourne when it comes to award-winning restaurants, cafes and pubs. The food on offer is simply amazing.

I am also an avid recreational fisherman and I enjoy being able to wet a line at Lake Hume or on the Mighty Murray river.

With everything so close, you just can’t beat living in Albury Wodonga.
